Week 2

Hello World!

Wow Two weeks down! Crazy! It feels like its been a month. Well in this week I have done two radio interviews, a two hour media event, 12 shows and a World Premiere of a new musical….no biggie.

My first radio interview was with Chelsea (Barbie) and Randy (Ken). Charmaine (The DJ interviewer) at Kiss FM was spectacular.

She made my first media interview so relaxed and fun. We got to sign the wall and Chelsea and I left kisses next to our signatures. We went straight from there to the theatre and finished our final tech.  Tuesday woke up not really sure what to expect with the day but found out that Johnson Vaugn Brock, a friend from my first year at AMDA and whom I haven’t seen since, happened to be in Singapore for that day only. I was able to get him a ticket. It was so great having a friend in the audience for our first show of the day and technically our opening! We did our first meet and greet after the show. These kids make this show worth it! They we so cute. Some were really shy and others were stupid excited to meet BARBIE!  After the show I got to catch up with Johnson only to find out that my roommate, Rebecca, knows him as well! So we got to have a group catch up. We did our second show then got ready for the after party.

The after party was at this gorgeous club on the water in front of the beautiful Opening Night partyskyline of Singapore. I was of course busy taking pictures and walking slowly after dancing in heels all day only to put on my 6 inch Steve Maden’s, naturally I got behind everyone. As I made my way to the stairs into the club I hear everyone yelling my name, telling me to hurry up. As I step into the club I get a huge round of applause and got introduced to press and everyone there from corporate. It was unreal. Flashes were going off for 5 minutes while executives were giving their speeches. It was insane! I felt like such celebrity. We then went on to have an epic night! We ended the night with playing the Barbie Live anthem “Wonder” by Emeli Sunde. We rocked out all night, only to find out by the time I got home at 1am that I had another radio interview early in the morning. I also managed to leave all of my hair and make-up stuff at the theatre. So the next morning was a little crazy but I managed to find my back ups in my suitcases and pulled it off with class!Second radio interview

The rest of the week was a blur of shows, pictures and trying to get enough sleep! During the week we realized that these kids know all the lyrics to the songs and every show there was something new and exciting. The kids singing with you and living through what’s happening in the show is an incredible experience and one that I have never had an opportunity until now to experience. I got to sit out one show this week because they wanted the swings to go on this week. It was eye opening. Barbie Wall at MBSYou think you are apart of something good but then you see it through the audience’s eyes. You are able to see what a special show we have. I have yet to see anything like this show and I am very proud to say I am apart of it!

We closed strong with a three show day! I got home around 11pm and crashed hard. Woke up in a panic when I realized I had slept through my alarm to skype with my parents which ended up not working out…but we already have another date set up so yeah! I miss them very much. Today we spent the day on Sentosa island. It was raining hard when we first got there so we went and had some snacks and a drink at Chili’s. We went zip lining once the rain stopped and it was soo much fun! There is a video that you can catch on Facebook! Brenna got to hold two Pythons! Best Pictures to date! We walked along the beach.  Then stopped by Chinatown on our way back to the hotel and what do we eat on our last day in Singapore …Pizza. Yes true world travelers right here. Lol

Brenna and her snakesHad a great last day in Singapore and now off to pack! We leave for Bangkok in the morning! Can’t wait it will be our first translated shows! It’s going to be an experience/adventure for sure.

See you all in Thailand!

This is a great blog! I just love to read about all the fun things you are doing and see that you are enjoying it so!

I particularly liked how you described the experience with the audiences at the shows and how proud you are to be part of the show.

The party with Mattel sounds so impressive and I love all the pictures you took from there. You looked absolutely stunning and beautiful in all the pictures I have seen. Mattel really makes it exciting, don’t they? What a location too!

Brenna doesn’t look the least bit nervous with those snakes; she is so brave! Now, why don’t you have any pictures of you with the snakes? LOL Oh, my, I wouldn’t have done that either!

The zip line video made my day! I laughed so hard I cried and I must have watched in over 10 times before I could put it down! Thanks for making that video. It would be nice to post it on here if there is a way. If you can do it, then you should post the fish pedicure from week 1. It was a classic tooI I loved your reaction in both!

Have fun in Thailand. Can’t wait to hear more!

What a great blog ! It is so fun to read about your adventures on the Barbie Live Asia tour. Definately a once in a lifetime experience. You look stunning in that black dress and I of course love the picture of Brenna with the snakes! I will share this with Brenna’s little cousins.
